Call for Proposals: Program for Undergraduate Research Experience applications open January 7

Research Excellence | Strategy 8: Student Research
Theme: Innovation

Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in the Program for Undergraduate Research Experience (PURE), a major initiative being funded through UBC’s strategic plan. The competition, which supports plan Strategy 8: Student Research, aims to broaden access to and enhance the undergraduate student research experience.

It is widely recognized that engagement in research provides students with the ability to apply their learning and contribute to the creation of new knowledge, while also enhancing critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.

The competition will provide up to $1-million from strategic funds to support undergraduate research projects across all Faculties at both campuses. Projects spanning up to two years in duration will be considered, with a cap of $50,000 for one-year projects and $100,000 for two-year projects.

Questions about the pilot program should be directed to Helen Burt (Vancouver campus) – helen.burt@ubc.ca, or Paul van Donkelaar (Okanagan campus) – paul.vandonkelaar@ubc.ca. More information about the competition can be found on the UBC Research + Innovation website.
