Call for applications: 2019 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters competition

Research Excellence | Strategy 6: Collaborative Clusters

The Offices of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, and the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, are pleased to announce the 2019 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters (GCRC) competition. Vancouver researchers are invited to submit their Notice of Intent to apply by September 23, 2019.

These awards are specifically targeted at catalyzing research initiatives at UBC. Funding is to be used strategically by recipients to attract further opportunities for cluster development. Grants are enabled by the UBC Vancouver Academic Excellence Fund in support of Strategy 6: Research Excellence in UBC’s strategic plan.

2019 COMPETITION INFORMATION

In response to broad consultation, applicants can now select a grant term of one or two years and apply for an additional trainee stipend supplement. Grant funding will also now align with fiscal years.

Applications are being invited from both emerging and established clusters of research excellence in all disciplines. Previously funded clusters, as well as new clusters, are eligible to apply to this competition. A Notice of Intent to apply must be submitted by September 23, 2019.

GCRC competitions are open to clusters led by researchers at the Vancouver campus. Clusters being led by researchers at the Okanagan campus can apply for funding through the Eminence program.
