A total of 40 emerging and established Research Excellence Clusters led by researchers on the Vancouver campus will be supported in 2022/23. This total includes 27 awards made through the 2022/23 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters Competition (GCRC) and 13 clusters entering the second year of their current award.
Research Excellence Clusters are interdisciplinary networks of researchers addressing societal and cultural problems and working together to solve challenges that transcend traditional boundaries associated with departments, institutions, and funding agencies. They are a key component of Strategy 6: Collaborative Clusters of the Strategic Plan, which supports Research Excellence. The GCRC was jointly created by the Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation and the Office of the Provost & Vice-President, Academic, UBC Vancouver.
