UBC Wellbeing and the UBC Sustainability Scholars Program are pleased to announce funding support for five wellbeing projects for the summer 2019 UBC Sustainability Scholars program.

ABOUT THE UBC WELLBEING SCHOLARS FUNDING PROGRAM

Following on the success of the last two years, UBC Wellbeing is once again offering partial funding for up to five UBC Sustainability Scholars projects that support the health, wellbeing, and social sustainability priorities on our Okanagan and Vancouver campuses.

FUNDING AND COSTS

The total cost of participating in the program is $5620, of which $5250 goes to the student for 250 hours of project work (equivalent to a rate of $21/hour) and $370 goes to cover the cost of benefits (e.g., EI, CPP, and WCB). UBC Wellbeing will subsidize 50% of this cost (up to a maximum of $2810), and the successful proponent funds the remainder ($2810).

HOW TO PROPOSE A TOPIC AND APPLY FOR UBC WELLBEING FUNDING

UBC staff or faculty can complete the proposal template outlining an applied research project of appropriate scope for a student to complete within 250 hours during the April 30 to August 10 program period and submit it to Karen Selby by end of day, Thursday, January 17, 2019. Proposed topics will be evaluated in terms of how they further the goals and principles in the Okanagan Charter for Health Promoting Campuses & Universities and UBC’s 20-Year Sustainability Strategy

Please visit UBC Sustainability to learn more about the application process, and to download the Program Overview and Proposal Template for full details.
