Aditi Sriram, UBC Class of 2021

UBC Land and Food Systems alumna Aditi Sriram has recently been awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship at The University of Oxford. Sriram is one of only 11 Canadians going to Oxford next October and one of more than 100 outstanding scholars from across the world who have been awarded fully funded graduate Rhodes Scholarships. She is UBC’s 73rd Rhodes Scholar.

As a Rhodes Scholar-Elect, she is very excited at the prospect of opening doors for underrepresented people. She believes her humble background from a low-income area in Toronto will inspire people to dream big and to achieve the impossible.

She is interested in financial regulation and economic policy and aspires to build her career in New York, the financial capital of the world. She wants to learn more about wealth accumulation and inequality in order to combat systemic factors that keep people in poverty.

Through Strategy 15: Student Experience, UBC is committed to creating opportunities for students to be engaged and supported during their time at UBC—outside as well as inside the classroom, across all our campuses and learning sites.
