Helping patients manage their health at home: UBC Pharmacists Clinic tops 20,000 patient care visits

November 8, 2021
Local and Global Engagement | Strategy 16: Public Relevance
Theme: Inclusion

The Pharmacists Clinic at UBC’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has seen more than 20,000 patients as of September 2021. This achievement highlights the Clinic’s specialist pharmacists and administrative staff’s devotion to British Columbians with complicated health and medication therapy requirements. Given that all patient treatment at the clinic has been offered virtually since March 2020, this milestone is even more noteworthy.

Launched in November 2013, the Clinic is Canada’s first university-affiliated, licensed, pharmacist-led patient care clinic. Expert pharmacists deliver the highest level of health advice services to their patients. Although being licensed as a community pharmacy, the clinic functions as a specialty clinic, with patients receiving care either through a recommendation from a health care practitioner or through self-referral. For patients who require additional time, clinic pharmacists give in-depth consultation and guidance.

The full story can be found at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences website.

UBC is dedicated to creating a significant influence on public welfare through its faculties and departments as part of Strategy 16: Public Relevance.
